Advertisement is considered as the most important way to promote your business and get it into the minds of their target customer. Logically speaking this is the most appropriate way of reaching out to your target customers, after all we see advertisement all day long on TV, newspaper, magazines, internet etc. We are literally flooded by advertisement in every aspect of our daily lives. But when it comes to small business, where budget is a constraint it's not always a sensible solution. Moreover when you're planning to build your brand, advertisement is often a waste of time, energy and money. There are two main reasons for that: Advertisement is day by day decreasing our tolerance towards them because of the sheer number of times we're bombarded with it. We are not applying action to advertisement as we use to. The forceful advertisements by the marketers are often looked at resentfully. When was the last time you clicked on an online advertisement while browsing the internet, do you really believe and buy products after seeing the advertisement on television.
Untill and unless you have heaps of money to spend on advertisement, don't waste your time on them. Your competitors have already walked down that lane and spent exorbitant amount building their brand name and establishing the name in the mind of consumers. For a small company deciding on which path to take is always crucial. Basically, until and unless you are bringing something exclusive and unique in the market there is no point spending exorbitant amount on advertisement, because those big brands has already established themselves in the market and doing one or two campaign will not peel any potatoes for you.
For small business owner the basic idea is to get people to talk about your product. Now, how do we do that? Here are few things to keep in mind while you jot down your plan :
- - How good is your product? A good product is the first prerequisite of a good company, which will eventually generate free- word-of-mouth promotion. If your product is not good enough than you basically are left with nothing to build the base for your promotion.
- - Reinforcement: As we know out of site is out of mind, hence you have to repeatedly reinforce people about your product. You can easily do that by participating in trade show, writing articles about your product. The idea is to utilizing any opportunity you get to its maximum. As a small business owner you have to donn many hats.
- - It will take some time to build your brand reputation. Your competitors are here for long and they have already established themselves, hence have patience and play your card with sincerity, it will not be long before you'll be reaping rewards.
