The difference between Google AdWords and Google AdSense

If you're an online marketer, you must have heard of Google advertisings or you may have heard about Google AdWords and Google AdSense. So? What are the key differences between these two programmes?

Basically, Google AdWords is a program you can use to get listed in the search results for Google and other search engines, such as AOL, Bing etc, for which it supplies advertisements. To get started you've to create an account, insert your advertisement, pick the maximum amount you're willing to pay per click on your ad and then submit your credit card. The moment your credit card is approved your advertisement will go live. Every time someone clicks on your ad, Google bills your account. Google AdWords is a form of pay-per-click advertising, where every couple of weeks or when your bill reaches a certain amount Google will actually charge your credit card.

AdWords works the best for those guys who want to sell a product or services. AdWords puts you in front of your target market quickly. Firstly, you have to select an unlimited amount of keywords that you feel best suited for your market and then bid on these keywords. The rate that you will get per click depends on the niche and competition. The best part about Google AdWords is that you can start with any budget and can specify times and days when you want your ads to be displayed. Moreover, everything is measurable here, so you have a clear idea of what works and what doesn't. From an advertisers point of view this is precisely the kind of information you need to track your return on investment.

On the other hand Google AdSense is a programme for site owners that wish to monetize their websites. Suppose you have a site which is rich in fresh content and attracts many visitors, then its highly likely that your site could benefit from utilizing Google AdSense programme. You have to create an account and get your website approved by Google, after receiving your acceptance notification Google will crawl your site to place relevant ads on your site based on your content, page title, url etc. Each time a user clicks on your ads, you will get paid a percentage of what Google earns from this. Google AdSense has completely revolutionized making money online.

So the basic difference between Google AdWords and AdSense is that one is for advertisers wishing to gain leads and make sales and other is for site publishers wishing to earn revenue.
