Creating Home Page
A click on the website and a window appears on your screen with some attractive and creative stuff. That is what the home page of a website is. Home page is the first and introductory page of the website. It is like an entrance door of a site through which the visitor navigates throughout the site. Your home page is the first and the foremost impression of your site and product on the visitor. A web designer is in a much highlighted motion while designing the home page of the website. This is because the skills of the designer are mainly shown in the designing of the home page to create an impact.
Most of the activities for trading or non trading sites start and end up on the home page, therefore, home page should be such that your clients would spend much time. However, every page in the site has to consider as the home page to match and maintain the quality throughout the site. Content on the home page should not exceed the limits at which the page started to look like boring at an overall aspect. The content should be small but with catchy tag lines.
The home page should provide a hint of the creative standard of the organization, the dedication towards work, the quality of the product to be sold and the navigation part with images. It should look like a summary of the chapter of your whole site. This is because most of the visitors including clients do not have any interest in reading the long content on the site. It’s better to have short and meaning full statements in the home page of the site.
To attract the visitors towards the product give them limited offers like “buy now”, “purchase today” etc. This will tempt the visitor to buy the product of your site in a quick succession. Moreover, maintain a logical sequence of the pages directed after the home page that will set the tone of the website. White spaces between the page are also necessary because the home page should not have a fuzzy image on the visitor. It should be clear and straight.
Images are the most powerful tool for the home page; therefore, the designer should take more help of the images then the text. It should work on the saying that a picture is worth a thousand words. However, this should also be kept in the mind that the pictures are not too heavy that they can take time for loading on the home page. It also proved that the visitor is more attracted towards the images on the website than the content written on it.
Though the images are of a lot importance on the site but the content on the site is also important. This is indeed equivalent to the importance of images because of the SEO criteria that says more of the content is on the site the more it appears on the top list in search engines. Therefore, keep in mind the these points before you design the home page of a website.
