Font usage tips
Usage of correct font for the content of the website is a very delicate step which should be taken seriously, as it can hamper or enhance the performance of your website. There is availability of hundreds and thousands of fonts which can be selected and made usable. Therefore, one has to select the appropriate font which clearly defines the style and nature of your website.
Unlike printed materials, website or internet do not facilitate us with the power of recalling again and again. Printed material is made in a font which is easy to read and understand, therefore, easily readable and understandable font is strongly recommended. The visitor may not give much time to reading of the content so it is advised to use the popular ones to make your website user friendly. Another thing to be kept in mind is that not every browser supports and displays every font, so a better option is to use a font which is found in maximum number of computers. Popular ones like Arial, Arial Black, Courier New, Times New Roman and Verdana are founded in almost every machine and can be displayed by maximum number of computers around the world.
Another thing which can happen while selecting font is that you may find the popular ones inappropriate for your website. You can easily upload your text in HTML version, rather than making one of yours in Adobe Photoshop. All the headings should be written in HTML which will make your web page search engine friendly, your headings should be kept in HTML as headings in images format will not be read by the browser or the search engines. A numerous design can be created using flash and a dynamic look can be given to your font but there too you have to be careful as your flash generated text will too be not read by the search engines. So it is important to apply text in your heading as absence of it can negatively affect your rankings.
So it is advised to use a readable and a decent font which can give you a visitor friendly website. Font can be used as more of the information tool rather than be used as a decorative tool. So selecting HTML over flash or java script will be a better option.
